The Experience
— what to expect
Photography for People who dread having photos taken
As someone who is fairly awkward in front of the camera (and behind it, let’s be real), I totally get that having your photo taken is intimidating. Before I became a photographer even just meeting new people gave me anxiety. I know how scary it is to put yourself out there around someone you’ve never met before, especially when they have a camera pointed at you during some of your most intimate moments.
I wholeheartedly understand that fear & anxiety, that’s why it’s important to me to take the time to get to know you and make you feel at ease before I start shooting. I want your photos to reflect who you are and that’s a lot harder to do if we don’t know each other and you’re not comfortable being yourself around me. If we don’t instantly click then I’m probably not the right photographer for you, and that’s okay! I want you to find the perfect fit and I am happy to help you find the right person if it’s not me.
I make it a priority to be there for my clients every step of the way by responding to emails at lightning speed, helping with location & outfit choices, creating timelines, making sure they don’t have a hair tie on their wrist or anything in their teeth, holding their lipstick for touch ups or even carrying their diaper bag for the entirety of the session. Anything you need, I’m here. I want my clients to feel like they’re just hanging out with an old friend… while that friend happens to be taking some wicked photos.
I fully believe in K.I.S.S, Keep It Simple, Stupid, from booking to shooting to editing. I ask for a flat retainer regardless of the package booked, I don’t heavily edit my photos, I don’t use a ton of props or intricate lighting set ups, and my approach to shooting is super laid back. I prefer to let moments unfold organically rather than perfectly orchestrate every shot. In moments where photos can feel forced (like during formals at a wedding) I love to get everyone laughing by making dumb jokes and playing silly games that evoke genuine emotion, no more forced smiles!
