What is lifestyle newborn photography?
Lifestyle newborn photography is all about capturing the raw and authentic moments in the first few months of a newborn’s life. There are very few props involved, the editing is minimal (though I do edit a handful with perfect skin), and the newborn is not heavily posed, in fact I don’t touch babies at all during these sessions (which is perfect for covid times!).
Since we aren't heavily posing the baby there is no race against time to book the photoshoot, the photos will be just as lovely at 2 months as they would be at 2 weeks. This is perfect for momma so she actually gets some time to heal (and adjust to lack of sleep) before rushing to get photos done. Traditional posed newborn photography needs to be done within the first 2 weeks when babies are at their sleepiest and most malleable.
Lifestyle newborn sessions are typically done in-home, which means there's no need to pack 2 diaper bags full of clothes for everyone in case of blowouts or spit ups! And you've got everything you need at hand to keep baby happy.
We focus on capturing baby in their natural states, cuddled up with mom and dad, being fed and burped, sleeping in their nursery, all of their sweet lil yawns, cries, and smiles. Every precious, fleeting moment that occurs during our time together.
While the session revolves around baby, we also make sure to include the entire family and their interactions with the newest member of their family as well as the general vibe of the home/nursery they're about to grow up in.
These sessions generally last 1-2 hours depending on baby's mood. Personally I don’t put a time limit on these because sometimes I get there and baby is just NOT having a good time and won't stop fussing. If this happens (and it does, a lot) pleaaaase don't stress!! I wouldn't be in this business if I couldn't handle a bit of scream crying. 😂
We will take all the time we need to get beautiful images! Even if it means I come back another day!
